HYDROCARBON REMEDIATION
Organica has created a series of all - natural microbial systems to bio-remediate hydrocarbon contamination in the soil profile and aqueous environments. These microbial systems contain high concentrations of safe, non-pathogenic, microorganisms and a unique oxygen release system. The microorganisms used to formulate the systems literally eat the contaminants. They seek out the various hydrocarbon compounds and utilize them as a food source to maintain their metabolic processes. Once the microbes have digested the hydrocarbons they are broken down into carbon and nitrogen. As long as the contaminants are present and there are adequate moisture levels, the microbial systems continue to feed and multiply until the compounds are gone. When the hydrocarbons are completely gone, so are the microbes. Remediation is complete!
Each microbial system is custom formulated based on what particular hydrocarbon is present and at what concentration. Through years of research Organica has isolated specific proprietary microbial species that are proficient at utilizing hydrocarbon - based compounds as a food source. Our state of the art Research and Development facility will determine what species best suits your particular circumstance. The next step is to determine at what concentration the contaminant is present. Your product will be prepared based on your specific contaminant levels.
Organica has the capacity to provide these microbial systems in a highly concentrated form to remediate even the worst situations. Your product will also be prepared based on the pH and salinity of your aqueous environment. This ensures the viability of your microbial systems once they have left our facility and are incorporated into their new surroundings. All these features ensure you will receive the right formulation to fit your specific need.
Once the product has been prepared Organica will provide you with its retention time. This is the amount of time necessary for the system to bring the contamination down to acceptable levels before the effluent is discharged. The system may be left in place long enough to remediate the contaminant entirely.
In many cases the contaminants simply have to be brought within acceptable levels. More often than not the levels are set forth by the EPA and are measured in ppm. You must determine that level in order for us to prescribe the retention time.
In order to start the formulation Organica requires the following information:
- What is/are the specific hydrocarbon based compound(s) to be cleaned up?
- At what concentration are they present?
- What volume of water is involved? What is containing the water and the contaminant?
- Specifics of water (pH, hard or soft, fresh or salt)
- What is the acceptable contaminant level in ppm?
